The common wheat variety Bilancia is characterized by a very high and stable yield (for several years it has been one of highest yielding cultivars in the national trials of bread - making wheat). Bilancia produces grain with optimal and costant quality for bread production (W >150 ; P/L = 0.3 – 0.6), as confirmed by a survey conducted by CRPV (Center for Research on Plant Production), an official italian authority.

ADVICE FOR CULTIVATION

SOWING DATE

Normal or early sowing dates are advisable.

SOWING DENSITY

400 – 500 germinating seeds per square meter. It is not advisable to exceed this quantity of seed (approximately 180 – 200 kg per hectare).

NITROGEN FERTILIZATION

Considering the high tillering capacity, we advise not to exceed nitrogen fertilization at planting and during tillering. Under normal conditions of availability, the following schedule should be followed:

No particular fungicide treatments are required, but under conditions particularly favourable to the development of fungus pathogenous development.

  • 1/4 at sowing time or when the plants reach the third-leaf stage;
  • 2/4 at end of tillering - beginning of culm elongation;
  • 1/4 at 2° node.

PHYTOSANITARY DEFENCE

No particular fungicide treatments are required, but under conditions particularly favourable to the development of fungus pathogenous development.
