The Meridiano durum wheat variety is characterized by a very high yield potential, determined by a good balance of the three yield components (ear fertility, 1000 kernel weight and number of ears per meter square). Furthermore, due to its high yield stability, Meridiano is well suited to every kind of cultivation area. These characteristics have been confi rmed in trials conducted abroad. The kernel have good qualitative characteristics, high test weight, good suitability for industrial transformation and a very high yellow index.
SOWING DATE
Ordinary sowing date are recommended.
SOWING DENSITY
Sowing should be performed with 400 germinating seeds per meter in adequately prepared soils.
NITROGEN FERTILIZATION
Nitrogen should be distributed according to local conditions. Fertilization should be divided into the following way:
Under low density conditions, additional nitrogen should be provided at the end of winter.
PHYTOSANITARY DEFENCE
No particular fungicide treatments are required. Preventive treatments are economically advantageous only when conditions are particularly favourable to the development of fungal infections.
