ADVICE FOR CULTIVATION

SOWING DATE

Ordinary sowing date are recommended.

SOWING DENSITY

Sowing should be performed with 400 germinating seeds per meter in adequately prepared soils.

NITROGEN FERTILIZATION

Nitrogen should be distributed according to local conditions. Fertilization should be divided into the following way:

  • 1/4 at sowing time or when the plants reach the third-leaf stage;
  • 2/4 at end of tillering-beginning of culm elongation;
  • 1/4 at 2° node.

Under low density conditions, additional nitrogen should be provided at the end of winter.

PHYTOSANITARY DEFENCE

No particular fungicide treatments are required. Preventive treatments are economically advantageous only when conditions are particularly favourable to the development of fungal infections.
